Resumen
En este artÃculo el autor analiza algunos de los más importantes estudios sobre la "identidad del mexicano", explora sus distintas perspectivas y resultados (especialmente los de Samuel Ramos, Octavio Paz y Roger Bartra). Llega a la conclusión con Roger Bartra de que la identidad del mexicano es una creación artÃstica, una ficción y sus estudios se han constituido en "invenciones de máscaras" del mexicano real que pretenden estudiar, el cual seguramente se debe carcajear ante tales invenciones.
Abstract
In this article the author analyses some of the most important studies of the "identity of the Mexican" (specially the studies of Samuel Ramos, Octavio Paz and Roger Bartra). He explores their different perspectives and results. He concludes with Roger Bartra that the "identity of the Mexican" is an artistic creation, a fiction; and the studies of it are just "inventions of a mask" of the real Mexican they pretend to analyze. According to him, these real Mexican would laugh at these inventions.
